Pia was my best friend in high school. We made an unlikely duo! She was a tall, Scandinavian blonde; I was (and still am) a petite Asian. I was scholarly and athletic, she wasn't studious nor outdoorsy. But we shared a lot of interests and wild adventures together! I cherished our friendship deeply, although by the time I turned 22, we had drifted apart. Our paths diverged, and I was in disbelief when I learned of her passing from the ETHS 20th reunion commemorative book.

The irony is a few years before the 20th reunion, I dreamt of meeting Pia in heaven (which to me was a pastoral paradise that resembled the Shakespeare Garden at Northwestern University). In my dream, I told Pia that I missed her, and wanted to join her, but she said it wasn't my time. So you could say our friendship also had a deep spiritual connection.

I got a chance to know Pia again at Oakton Community College. Was sad to learn of her passing in 1991. Nice memory Linda

Pia was one of my dearest friends from high school.   She was Finnish, a beautiful tall blonde blue eyed very shy girl that would turn red at the least embarrassment.  After graduation our lives went separate ways but we kept in good touch by letter and when it was possible, during my trips back to Evanston,  we would get together and celebrated with sweets and champagne. I was shocked when just a few weeks after receiving her last letter I was informed by Helen M. of her having passed.   I have kept her vivid  in my heart.  Rest In Peace Pia....my dear friend.
