Nancy became my best friend in the summer before 6th grade. I moved across the street from Willard School where we met in the playground and at her insistence became instant friends. She was clever with words-no brilliant. She could sing with such natural beauty. She spent most of her adult life bringing people to Jesus. We lost touch often but then reconnect as if no time had passed. Towards the end of her life she called me for help. Sadly she didn't have the financial resources to battle the cancer that was destroying her body. When she called me it was too late for me to help her. I made frequent trips to her brother's house in Crystal Lake where her earthly life ended. I was by her side singing hymns and holding her hand. I will never forget Nancy.
