Shit, this one hurts. Charles was a friend in the truest sense of the word. Always kind, really smart and funny, a gentle soul. Wonderful company over a sloppy joe in the West hall cafeteria, laughed at my terrible jokes. Charles' obituary was a tough read. I hadn't seen or spoken with him since we left the halls of ETHS. Should you have known Charlie please give his obit a read. This man lived a wonderful life, did serious and important work, loved and was loved by everyone he touched. RIP Charlie, you left the world a better place. Prayers.

Chuck was my debate partner and close friend at ETHS (Bacon School). We both then enrolled at Northwestern, pledged fraternities at the same time, and shared many wonderful campus experiences.   Chuck taught Communications at Kansas State University for many years. I will always miss his friendship, humor and sincere compassion for others.

I remember you well, dear Chuck.  You were in my Honors English classes, and on the debate team.  I met your sister-in-law, Wendy Griffin when I embarked on a 3-year teacher certification program, at Northeastern Illinois University.  You had so much going for you.  How sad that you were taken way too soon.  Michael Dorn
