In Memory

Adam Krull

Via Eric King:

"I am saddened to let you know (a few days late) that Adam passed away last Saturday at 3:30 am Saturday February 19, after 10 days receiving Hospice care (2/9-2/19). Please join me in thanking God for releasing him from pain.  I miss him terribly. My heart feels like someone is tearing it into pieces!!!!

~Theresa"

Adam lived on Greenleaf, just east of Chicago Ave. Near Nichols Jr High School. We were close friends in high school. As with so many, we drifted apart. At some point, he ended up in Hawaii, where he lived for some years and up until his passing in February 2022.

Way back in the day, Adam, Eric (Peter) Friedman, Murat Artar and myself were very close friends. All of us were in the SE Evanston corner. Summers at Lee Street beach. Playing running bases, or just throwing the fresbee around, we spent just about any free time together. After school stopping at the B&G on Main Street trying to figure out how to talk to the waitresses from Northwestern University. Card games on Friday nights. With poker chips and whatever other accessories needed to make us feel halfway normal.

Through mutual friends, Adam and I reconnected via email, finding that he was living in Hawaii. We shared a number of emails about life in high school and beyond and the crazy things we remember and things we did. Of the four guys noted above, I'm the only one still around. I wish I had more memories to share. It was interesting emailing with Adam as he had memories I didn't, and visa versa. Whatever we end up storing in our long-term memory as what was significant back then.
